Inspite of Brexit and Covid causing customs problems and cost increases on freight between France and the UK, we managed to ship a mixed pallet of new wines into EHD Bond early June. We believe that we have found some real gems from Duras, Alsace,Castillon, St Emilion and Languedoc:
Firstly 3 great value Côtes du Duras from Domaine de Grande Mayne at only £10 a bottle – a Rose, a Sauvignon and a silky Merlot/Cabernet red- really drinkable wines that will suit everyone’s taste! The Grand Mayne Rosé is a refreshing, dry pale pink made from Cabernet Sauvignon so has a bit more character than some Languedoc Rosés. Full tasting notes on all three Duras wines are on the Beyond Bordeaux pages of the website. As are of course notes on the other new wines such as :
a unique style AOC Cabardes blending Cabernet Sauvignon with Languedoc grape varieties – the 2017 Chateau de Bagnoles Majelus,
a Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux 2018 from Chateau La Brande that rivals more expensive St. Emilions.
and a simply stunning 2019 Alsace Pinot Noir from Domaine de la Tour Blanche.
