We are delighted to have just imported two wines from the South of France, that impressed us on our travels last year. A classy red from the Terrasses du Larzac area of Languedoc, and an unusual Chardonnay/Vermentino white, an IGP de Vaucluse
Terrasses du Larzac is the rising star of the Languedoc and the most famous red of the region, Mas de Daumas Gassac, is close by. The Croisee des Chemins 2020 from Domaine Les Chemins de Carabotte is a blend of Syrah, Grenache & Carignan, giving a deep ruby red wine which is in the “Premier Division” of Languedoc wines!
The white IGP Vaucluse is from our friends at Domaine La Garelle in Luberon. It carries the IGP label as under AOC rules Chardonnay is a “non allowed” grape. In recent times the IGP Vaucluse has become the home of some of the most innovative winemakers in France, as it allows them to experiment with different grape varieties and winemaking techniques. The latest vintage of Chateau de Fontenille Bordeaux Clairet 2022 is now in stock. Good news for those who like a deeper Rose/light red with very soft tannins with their Turkey dinners! As many of you will know from drinking previous vintages, an extra long 3 day maceration, ageing on fine lees makes this a wine of real depth and character. Also for the many fans of Stephane Defraine’s famous Bordeaux whites, the 2022 Fontenille Entre-Deux-Mers also arrived on the same pallet, so is available now.
A new wine on our list is a new Lalande de Pomerol wine from the 2020 vintage, that Patrick Merle is making at Chateau des Moines. This is 100% Malbec aged in clay amphora rather than in oak barrels – very unusual and only to be made in the best years from a one hectare plot of Malbec vines. [read more …]
We are delighted to now have in stock more of the lovely La Minette Rosé from Domaine Vintur in Ventoux. Just in time for a sunny August and a warm “Indian Summer”, having sold out of our spring delivery by the start of July! If you are a lover of Provence style “pink wines” this should be for you, with it’s aromas of summer fruits [read more …]

Inspite of Brexit and Covid causing customs problems and cost increases on freight between France and the UK, we managed to ship a mixed pallet of new wines into EHD Bond early June. We believe that we have found some real gems from Duras, Alsace,Castillon, St Emilion and Languedoc:
Firstly 3 great value Côtes du Duras from Domaine de Grande Mayne at only £10 a bottle – a Rose, a Sauvignon and a silky Merlot/Cabernet red- really drinkable wines that will suit everyone’s taste! [read more …]
Happy Easter everyone!! We had run out of Champagne by March so things were getting serious! Happily our first shipment from France after Brexit is due into our Bond warehouse later this week and it is all Champagne! So the ever popular Domi Moreau Cuvée d’Argent brut is back in stock just in time for those long awaited al fresco picnics under the “rule of 6”.
We also have more of the Domi Moreau Rosé Champagne, which always goes well in summer, and for those who prefer pure Chardonnay there is the Domi Moreau Blanc de Blancs from the plots of premier cru Chardonnay vines that Max and Nathalie Domi grow on the Cotes des Blancs south of Epernay.
The good news is that just before Brexit we managed to imporrt a mixed pallet of Bordeaux wines from four of our longstanding producers:
Chateau de Fontenille in Entre Deux Mers, Chateau Des Moines in Lalande de Pomerol, Chateau de Lauga in Haut Medoc and Chateau les Cabannes in St. Emilion.
From Fontenille we have the 2019 vintages of their excellent Entre Deux Mers and the Bordeaux Clairet [read more …]
