Alsace Pinot Noir, Domaine de la Tour Blanche 2020 (6b case)
£102.00
Pinot Noir
Pinot Noir – that most enigmatic grape that you either love or hate. It has certainly been a labour of love for us and after visiting Burgundy for over 15 years, trying hundreds of wines , we have reluctantly concluded that good value drinkable (i.e. under £20/bottle) red Burgundy does not exist! Hence, for our Pinot Noir hit we have arrived at Domaine de la Tour Blanche in Alsace instead.
A stunning property and vineyard in the famous village of Riquewihr that has been in the Klack family since 1628. It is now run by Daniel Klack on a biodynamic basis respecting the environment whilst successfully combining both traditional and modern practices. Daniel’s Pinot Noir is fermented and matured in beautiful old cellars using 100 year old oak casks holding up to 3,000 litres.
Bottled in the traditional Alsace flute, the wine is ruby red with enticing aromas of ripe cherries. Blackcurrants and violets with hints of spice and well integrated oak. A fresh and elegant wine with soft tannins, good length and with that “special something” that only comes with Pinot Noir.
It maay have taken uss a while but good value Pinot is now here!
