A super fruit forward organic Mediterranean style rosé wine from our friends at Domaine Vintur (see our tasting notes for Le Gentleman 2017 for more background on this Domaine). This is a hand-crafted organic wine and the vineyard is actually in Provence but, as so typically French, only wines from Côtes de Provence (essentially the VAR department) are allowed by appellation rules to call themselves Provencal!
The benefit of course is that you don’t have to pay a premium for the name “Provence” or extra for the fancy bottle that is difficult to store in the refrigerator! La Minette is an organic wine fermented at low temperatures, with only natural yeasts for 3 weeks and then matured in stainless steel tanks on its lees for four months.
A fresh rose petalled wine, this Mediterranean sunshine blend of 25% Cinsault, 25% Grenache Noir, 25% Marselan and 25% Mourvedre, gives aromas of light summer fruits with hints of wild red berries. A rich, well developed palate showing minerality and length with a well balanced clean finish.
Drink well chilled and this wine sings of summer in Provence. Perfect on it’s own as well as with charcuterie and simple fish dishes, or indeed any plate of light Mediterranean food.
An artisan, organic wine that has absolute total drinkability stamped all over it, and at such a low price! Lunchtimes will never be the same again!
